Hello from Minato & Mirai 🌙
Just a little while ago, in the early hours of September 8, 2025, a spectacular total lunar eclipse appeared in the sky!
The moon was completely covered by Earth’s shadow, glowing with a mysterious copper-red color. From our home in Minato Mirai, we were able to watch this rare celestial show clearly ✨
Because the eclipse happened so late at night—and on a Sunday night before Monday morning—many people probably chose sleep over stargazing.
That’s why we, Minato and Mirai, stayed up and captured it for everyone!
Please enjoy the photos of this unforgettable lunar eclipse set against the Yokohama nightscape♪

Sleepy eyes, but totally worth it!
Around 2:00 AM: First Contact at Rinko Park
We set up our tripod on the lawn at Rinko Park, feeling the cool sea breeze.
Looking west, we witnessed the exact moment the full moon began slipping into Earth’s shadow.
With Yokohama’s skyscrapers glowing in the background, the moon above the wide-open grass felt more powerful and dramatic than usual.
We couldn’t help but wonder: “What colors will it turn into next?”

If you want to simply watch the eclipse itself, Rinko Park is the perfect place to stay put.
But since we live in Minato Mirai, we couldn’t resist trying something different—capturing the eclipse together with the city’s landmarks.
So, after checking the moon’s direction on the map, we decided to move toward the Red Brick Warehouse for the peak!

Around 3:00 AM: Total Eclipse over Red Brick Warehouse
From Rinko Park we walked along the night streets to the Red Brick Warehouse. The air was calm, and the city felt almost asleep.
We arrived in plenty of time for the total eclipse peak at 3:11 AM.

The moon looked smaller compared to the warehouse, but it still made a wonderful composition.
Here’s our favorite shot of the night: zoomed in to capture the top of the Red Brick Warehouse with the eclipsed moon glowing right above it!

Nearby, we also found an old train platform we had never noticed before. Of course, we snapped the eclipse with it, too!

We took many more photos that night and will be sharing them in upcoming posts♪
