How to get from Narita Airport to Asakusa & Ueno: 3 Keisei Options
The easiest way from Narita Airport to Asakusa/Ueno is via the Keisei Railway. You have three main routes:
- ① Keisei Skyliner: Fastest, all-reserved limited express (our top pick!)
- ② Access Express: No surcharge beyond the base fare (slightly pricier than a regular rapid). One-seat ride to Asakusa but fewer departures; bench seating and no reserved seats—can be tricky with large luggage.
- ③ Keisei Main Line Limited Express: No surcharge, but slower with more stops and bench seating—less comfortable with big bags.
Bottom line: when in doubt, choose the Skyliner
If you’re heading to Ueno/Asakusa, the Keisei Skyliner is the fastest and most comfortable choice.
It reaches a top speed of 160 km/h—not a Shinkansen, but it sure feels like one. From Narita Airport Terminal 2·3, it gets you to Keisei Ueno Station in about 41 minutes.

The train’s futuristic design is awesome—feels like an “airport bullet train” straight from Narita!
On board you’ll find fully reserved reclining seats, free Wi-Fi, power outlets, and dedicated luggage racks.
Fast, quiet, and comfy—the perfect way to start your trip.

Skyliner trains run about every 20–30 minutes, so even if immigration or baggage takes time, you won’t wait long. That “no-stress timing” is a huge plus.

And the views! Rolling countryside turning into the Tokyo skyline—instant travel vibes♪

How to buy Skyliner tickets|Book online in advance
The Skyliner is popular and can sell out on weekends/peak seasons. Ticket machines and counters at the airport also get lines, so booking online in advance is the smoothest way.
You can purchase easily via Klook (official partner) or Trip.com. Online prices are ¥2,310 vs. ¥2,580 at the counter—save ¥270!
Show the QR code on your phone to collect the ticket—quick even after immigration.
Klook also offers a bundle with a Tokyo Metro subway pass, which is super handy if you’ll be riding the subway a lot.

Even if your flight time shifts a bit, Skyliner every 20–30 minutes keeps it stress-free.
If you prefer, you can also buy online after you land—purchase on your phone, show the QR, and you’ll be through the gates in under 10 minutes.

Less time in ticket lines, more time exploring—yes please!
From Keisei Ueno to Asakusa
From Keisei Ueno (Skyliner terminus), it’s a 5-minute walk to Tokyo Metro Ueno Station.
Transfer to the Ginza Line for just about 5 minutes to Asakusa.
It’s the classic sightseeing combo: Ueno Park → Ameyoko → Senso-ji in Asakusa.
If you’ll ride the subway a lot in Tokyo, the Skyliner + Metro Pass bundle is excellent value—available on Klook.

Going back: Skyliner to Narita from Keisei Ueno or Nippori
For the return to Narita, the Skyliner is again the easiest.
Depart from Keisei Ueno Station—about a 5-minute walk from JR Ueno via underground passages.
Keisei Ueno is the origin station, so every seat is reserved and you’ll definitely get a seat. There are shops and cafés in the station for last-minute snacks and souvenirs.

Guaranteed seating is clutch—and you can grab souvenirs in Ueno before you board.
You can also board the Skyliner at JR Yamanote Line: Nippori Station.
At Keisei Ueno, follow signs for the “Ueno Park Exit”. At Nippori, follow signs for the “South Gate (Keisei side)”.

Nippori works great after sightseeing—straight shot to Narita!
From either station, the Skyliner takes about 40 minutes to Narita. At “Airport Terminal 2·3”, escalators are nearby—smooth even with big suitcases.
