Linked Events: Music & Illuminations (incl. YORUNOYO)

During the same period, nearby venues host music events like “Mainichi ga Christmas 2025,” and citywide light productions such as “YORUNOYO.”
From Red Brick to Yamashita Park, the whole waterfront glows with holiday cheer—
truly a winter festival embraced by the entire city.

Tips for Visiting: Ticket Types & Crowd Strategy

There are three ticket types for the Yokohama Red Brick Christmas Market.
The basic “General Admission” covers entry only; both advance purchase and same-day tickets are available. Great if you just want to enjoy the atmosphere—however, same-day ticket queues can be long, so advance purchase is recommended.

“Priority Entry Tickets” help you cut wait times during peak hours. Weekends and holidays—especially 17:00–20:00 from mid-December onward—get extremely crowded, so these are highly recommended.

For an extra-special night, consider the “Premium Lounge Ticket.” You’ll have a private chalet to relax with food and drinks while gazing at the tree—perfect for couples or anniversaries.

On the flip side, the least crowded time is weekdays around late morning to mid-afternoon (11:00–15:00). Pre-sunset is also ideal for photography with fewer people.
If you want to avoid crowds, aim for earlier hours or weekdays.
* Even on weekdays, evenings can be very busy! When we visited on a Thursday night last year, it took time to find a spot to eat.

Why Yokohama’s Market Is Among Japan’s Most Beloved

For years, “Christmas market in Japan” has been synonymous with Yokohama—and at Red Brick, it’s the signature event.
So what makes it such a nationwide favorite?

Mirai
Mirai

Because it’s so uniquely “Yokohama,” of course!

A One-and-Only Setting: Port City × Historic Architecture

Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse is a historic building from the Meiji era.
Against its stately brick walls, you get open sea air and Minato Mirai’s skyline—
a rare blend of “old-world charm × near-futuristic cityscape.”
Lights from the tree and huts reflect off the bricks, creating the feel of an overseas port town.
This fusion of night view and architecture is the event’s biggest draw.

Authentic German Market Culture, Faithfully Recreated

The “Christmas Market in Yokohama” began in 2010.
From the planning stages, it referenced markets in Munich and Cologne,
using German-made huts, décor, and even some music.
That’s why you can enjoy true tastes like glühwein, sausages, and Stollen—
one of the few places in Japan to experience a European-style Christmas.

Evolving Production & Visitor Experience

From tens of thousands in its early years to over 1 million visitors annually now,
the market keeps growing because themes, lighting, and layouts are refreshed every year.
In 2025, with the theme “Time,” light, sound, and space interweave for an immersive experience—
a balance of tradition and innovation that keeps fans returning.

Designed for Everyone: Layered Ways to Enjoy

With both paid and free areas, the market welcomes a wide range of visitors.
Some pop by the free zones for the lights, others savor food and drinks in paid areas,
and some book Premium Lounges for a slow, luxurious night.
This flexibility—enjoying at your own pace—underpins its broad appeal.

Made for the Social Era: Visual Charm Everywhere

Photo and video moments abound: the giant tree, rows of wooden huts, the Ferris wheel’s glow, and lights reflecting on the sea—
it’s a postcard from any angle.
With hundreds of thousands of posts on Instagram and X each year,
that “I want to go!” ripple effect fuels repeat visits.

A Citywide Winter Festival

Not just Red Brick—Yamashita Park, Osanbashi, and YORUNOYO’s productions link together,
turning the entire bayfront into a stage.
Only Yokohama offers this scale, and it pairs perfectly with sightseeing and stays.

Wrap-up: Make Your Christmas in Yokohama

“Scenery × Culture × Experience × Shareability”
—that perfect balance is what defines the Red Brick Christmas Market.
Respecting tradition while evolving each year,
it remains one of the most heart-thrilling winter spots in Japan.
