Hello! We’re Minato & Mirai, a newlywed couple living in Yokohama’s Minato Mirai♪
Today we’re excited to introduce our stay at the Hotel New Grand—specifically the signature high-floor club level room, the “Semi-Suite Hollywood Twin.”
Think sweeping views over Yokohama Port and timeless interiors you can only find at one of Japan’s most storied classic hotels. Let’s take a closer look!

Hotel New Grand: Yokohama’s Iconic Classic Hotel
Facing Yamashita Park, Hotel New Grand opened in 1927 and has welcomed world-famous guests such as Charlie Chaplin, Babe Ruth, and General Douglas MacArthur—earning its reputation as a true “guest palace” of Japan.
With its European-style heritage architecture, time-honored hospitality, and an unbeatable setting overlooking Yokohama Port, Hotel New Grand is widely known among travelers—domestic and international alike—as a “once-in-a-lifetime place to stay.”
Right in front is Yamashita Park, complete with rose gardens and fountains in an English-style landscape, and the historic ocean liner Hikawa Maru, which once connected Japan and the U.S., is permanently moored here. Access from Haneda and Narita airports is convenient, making it an ideal base for exploring Yokohama.
Among the many room types, our top recommendation is the high-floor “Semi-Suite Hollywood Twin,” offering a full panorama of the Bay Area.
From here on, we’ll share the room’s highlights based on our actual stay.
Inside the Semi-Suite Hollywood Twin
The Club Floor is on the 16th floor of the Tower Wing—one of the highest guest-room zones in the hotel.

Floors 15 and above are the Grand Club Floor, and you’ll insert your key to activate the elevator buttons—a small but fun touch🔑. Stays on the Grand Club Floor also include access to the exclusive lounge “The Club.” (More on that in a later post!)
Here’s the room entrance: a gold plaque with the cursive words “purumie suite.” The official website calls this category the Semi-Suite, but the on-door signage reads “purumie suite.”

Open the door and the first thing you see is an expansive, luxurious panorama of Yokohama Port.
It’s hard to capture the full sweep in photos (^^;), but trust us—it’s huge.

Massive windows bathe the bed area in natural light, creating a truly blissful atmosphere.

Above the bed hangs a lovely painting of a couple—does anyone recognize the work? 🖌
Embroidery-like detailing along the bed frame adds a regal touch, and we loved the Hotel New Grand phoenix-motif cushion. 🌟

Facing the bed is an adorable mauve-pink sofa♡
We couldn’t stop taking photos—this little corner is incredibly photogenic.

The condiment bar in the back is stocked so you can enjoy complimentary coffee, tea, and water.

There’s also a substantial desk and chair set—perfect for enjoying that panorama while you write or plan your day.

This feels like the kind of desk a CEO would use ((* ̄▽ ̄)フフフッ)

Deeper in the room you’ll find a vanity (dresser), a closet, a full-length mirror, and a wardrobe.
Great for guests with lots of luggage and super convenient for longer stays, especially if you like to dress up. 👏

Next up: the vanity area and bath. .o○
There’s a large mirror right beside the tub—which felt a bit unusual at first (^^;). Skincare amenities are by Cosme Decorté, and the bath amenities are all BVLGARI. ✨

And finally, one more look at that panorama ✨—this photo might convey it even better…
We had perfect weather, so we just lay on the bed and soaked in the cobalt-blue sky and the port view—pure happiness (*’▽’)
