Basic Information for YORUNOYO 2025
Event period: December 4 (Thu)–30 (Tue), 2025
Regular illumination hours: 17:00–21:05
The biggest charm of YORUNOYO is that the entire port area turns into one huge show space.
At the heart of it is a special production that takes place every 30 minutes, called “Highlight of Yokohama.”

Show production “Highlight of Yokohama”:
17:00 / 17:30 / 18:00 / 18:30 / 19:00 / 19:30 / 20:00 / 20:30 / 21:00 (about 5 minutes each)
When the show begins, Landmark Tower, the InterContinental, the Cosmo World Ferris wheel, Marine Tower…
Yokohama’s iconic buildings are wrapped in color, changing in sync with the music as light flows across the city.
It feels as if the entire port is breathing as the colors shift and waves of light ripple outward—truly breathtaking!
First-time visitors and repeat guests alike will find themselves holding their breath at the sheer scale of it all.
For just five special minutes in winter, Yokohama’s nightscape transforms from something you simply “look at” into something you can truly “experience.”
Did You Know? “Test Lighting” Actually Starts in November!
One unique feature of YORUNOYO is its dynamic production, where the entire port area lights up in coordination. Because of this, about 1–2 weeks before the official start each year, “test lighting” (trial illumination) begins.
In 2025, we were able to see the effects in various places on both Friday, November 21 and Monday, November 24.
From Yokohama Marine Tower, a rainbow-like beam of light reached into the sky.

The historic ship Hikawa Maru shifted between purple, blue, and many other colors.

Hotel New Grand is also part of YORUNOYO and lit up in colorful tones.

On top of that, many hotels and buildings in the Minatomirai area were glowing in rainbow colors.

These are part of the early activation of the “city-wide illumination,” a quiet rainbow production that’s different from the main show.
Still, it’s already beautiful enough on its own, and being able to enjoy this from November feels like a delightful bonus.

5 Recommended Viewing Spots
Yamashita Park (in front of Hikawa Maru)
This is one of the most photogenic YORUNOYO spots, where Marine Tower, Hikawa Maru, and the waters of Yokohama Port all fit into one frame. The rainbow lights reflecting off the hull of Hikawa Maru look especially magical in photos. Because the sea breeze carries the sound, you can feel the power of the show with all your senses. With its open, port-like atmosphere, it’s a perfect first viewing point for anyone new to YORUNOYO.

Osanbashi Pier (“Whale’s Back”)
This is the main viewing hub for YORUNOYO and truly a special spot where you can see all of Yokohama’s icons at once—from Landmark Tower and the Red Brick Warehouse to the InterContinental. Thanks to its height and wide-open view, you can watch the movement of light in a very dynamic, three-dimensional way. The moment the colors spread out across the port like a wave is simply overwhelming—an experience you can only get here. It’s a world-class night view spot that will impress anyone you bring along.

Red Brick Warehouse to Shinko Central Square
Here, the warm lights of the Christmas Market blend beautifully with YORUNOYO’s stylish illumination, creating a winter-only atmosphere. You can enjoy shopping and street food while also catching glimpses of the port’s lights between the buildings, so just strolling around feels exciting. Because you can experience both the lively market and the quintessential Yokohama night view, this area is popular with both families and couples. There are plenty of photo spots too, making it a great route for a casual night walk.
Yokohama Marine Tower Observation Floor
While the tower itself glows in rainbow colors, from the observation deck you can enjoy YORUNOYO from a completely different perspective—seen from above. With a clear view toward Osanbashi, the InterContinental, and even the Bay Bridge in the distance, you can watch the gradation of light wrapping around the city. It offers a world quite unlike the view from ground level and is perfect for those who want to enjoy the lights in a calm, relaxed atmosphere. It’s also a popular high-end date spot for couples who want to spend a special evening together.

Waterbus (Sea Bass) / Marine Rouge
Watching YORUNOYO from the sea is on a completely different level of romance compared to viewing it from land. The lights of the buildings shimmer on the water’s surface, changing with the motion of the boat and creating a truly one-of-a-kind night view. If you time it to coincide with the show, you may even catch that dramatic moment when the light seems to spill into the sea. If you’re looking to create an unforgettable memory—whether on a date or a special trip—this is a luxurious way to experience YORUNOYO.
If you want something easy and casual, the regular waterbus is also a great option. There is even a special December-only YORUNOYO & Minatomirai Illumination Cruise available!

If you prefer to take your time and enjoy a lovely dinner while watching the lights, we highly recommend Marine Rouge, a classic Yokohama dinner cruise.
