Hey Mirai, doesn’t it feel like there are way more Christmas markets this year? Both in Tokyo and Yokohama, they’re popping up everywhere and I honestly don’t know which one to go to anymore… (lol)

You’re so right. This year, “Tokyo Christmas Market” has two venues – Jingu Gaien and Shiba Park – and on top of that we’ve got Yokohama Red Brick, Roppongi, Ueno, Skytree… It’s basically a full-on “Christmas Market Warring States Period” now!
Exactly! This year, not only the usual classic spots but also lots of new places are hosting Christmas markets of all sizes. No wonder it’s hard to decide where to go.
So for everyone feeling that way, we put together a roundup of Christmas markets in and around Tokyo and Yokohama!
This time we’ll compare them in two groups: “big venues if you want to enjoy it properly” and “mid-sized spots that are perfect for a quick stop-by”♪
Christmas Markets Everywhere in 2025! First, the Big Picture
In 2025, the Tokyo & Yokohama area has more Christmas market–style events than ever before.
Among them, these two are especially big:
- Tokyo Christmas Market 2025 (Jingu Gaien / Shiba Park) … One of the largest and most authentic markets in Japan
- Christmas Market in Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse … The classic date spot with “ocean × night view × real fir tree”
These two are the large-scale venues where you can really dive deep into the experience.
On top of that, mid- to small-sized events are held across the city in places like Roppongi Hills, Tokyo Midtown, Ueno Park, Tokyo Skytree Town, Ebisu, and Futakotamagawa.
Want to Enjoy It Properly? Go for These Large Christmas Markets
Let’s start with two of the top-tier Christmas markets in Japan. Honestly, if you can, we’d love for you to visit both!
Tokyo Christmas Market 2025 (Jingu Gaien / Shiba Park)
Tokyo Christmas Market is often described as one of the largest in Japan. In 2025 it will be held at two venues: Jingu Gaien and Shiba Park (Onarimon Station Front Plaza). With a roughly 14 m-tall Christmas pyramid imported from Dresden, wooden huts just like in Germany, and glühwein and sausages, it’s perfect if you want to enjoy both atmosphere and food to the fullest.

Christmas Market in Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse 2025

Highlights & Atmosphere
・In the plaza in front of the Red Brick Warehouses, a real fir tree and sparkling illuminations appear. Combined with the open view of the sea, the nighttime atmosphere is unbeatable.
・You’ll find all kinds of winter European street foods such as German sausages, glühwein, hot chocolate, cheesy dishes, and sweets.
・The craft area is also well stocked with ornaments, candles, snow globes, wooden toys, and more – it’s really fun to pick out just one decoration to take home for your tree.

Crowds & Tips
・Weekend evenings are extremely crowded, so advance tickets are highly recommended.
・If you want to take photos at a relaxed pace, aim for weekday late afternoons to early evenings or right after opening.
・Another big plus is that you can combine it with other Minato Mirai illuminations like Queen’s Square, Landmark Plaza, and YORUNOYO in one night.
Access:
・Around 6 minutes on foot from Minatomirai Line “Bashamichi” or “Nihon-odori” Station
・Around 15 minutes on foot from JR / Yokohama Municipal Subway “Sakuragicho” or “Kannai” Stations
・You can also take the Sea Bass boat from Yokohama Station East Exit and get off at “Akarenga Soko” if you want to arrive in style by sea.
Recommended if you:
・Want to enjoy a romantic night view that feels uniquely “Yokohama”
・Want both a Christmas market and a night-view stroll in one plan
・Are planning a date, anniversary, or even scouting a spot for a proposal (?)

Personally, I think the Yokohama Red Brick market might be my favorite… The sea breeze is a bit chilly, but that view is just too good – it feels almost unfair.

Same here. As someone who lives in Minato Mirai, I really want everyone to experience it at least once! It’s not just the market and illuminations – the whole walk before and after feels like part of the “event.”
