Hello, we’re Minato and Mirai♪
Spring has fully arrived, and while cherry blossoms are reaching their peak, tulips at Yamashita Park in Yokohama were already in full bloom.
Look at these colorful and adorable tulips!

Sooo cuuute!!!
We stopped by Yamashita Park on March 29 for a cherry blossom stroll, but we were surprised to find that the tulips were already at their peak. We usually expect them in April.
We took lots of photos, so we’ll share some highlights along with tips on how to enjoy tulips at Yamashita Park, and introduce other tulip spots in Yokohama♪
What Makes the Tulip Garden at Yamashita Park Special
Yamashita Park is also famous for its rose garden. However, roses bloom in May, so there aren’t many in April.
Instead, the tulips are beautifully in bloom during this time.
A Random, Colorful Tulip Field That Changes with Your View
The tulips here are scattered in vibrant colors with no specific pattern.
This randomness means the scenery changes depending on where and how you take your photos.

Wait, are there flowers other than tulips too…?
Exactly! The tulip field is actually mixed with spring bulbs like daffodils and muscari, creating these beautiful accidental landscapes.
On March 29, cherry blossoms were also in full bloom, so we could capture both tulips and sakura in one shot.

Tulips × Cruise Ships: A Unique Collaboration
Another highlight is the combination of tulips and cruise ships.
The tulip garden is located near Osanbashi Pier.
This makes it possible to enjoy tulips together with cruise ships docked at the pier!
On this day, a cruise ship was docked there, allowing us to capture this beautiful collaboration♪

Check the cruise ship schedule here before you go!

There are lots of ships arriving in April and May!

There are many seasonal flowers in Yamashita Park, so take your time to enjoy them!

Other Must-See Tulip Spots in Yokohama
There are many places in Yokohama where you can enjoy tulips besides Yamashita Park. Here are two spots you shouldn’t miss♪
100,000 Tulip Carpet | @Yokohama Park
One of the best tulip spots in Yokohama is Yokohama Park.
Located just a short walk from Kannai Station, this park next to Yokohama Stadium features about 100,000 tulips of around 70 varieties!
They are neatly arranged by color, creating a truly spectacular view.
It offers a completely different impression from Yamashita Park, with a more powerful and structured tulip display♪

On April 4–5, 2026, the 48th Yokohama Flower and Green Spring Fair will be held here, including a flower market.
Stylish Tulip Garden with Lavender | @Rinko Park
Another recommended spot is the tulip garden at Rinko Park!
Although it’s a smaller area, the tulips are beautifully surrounded by lavender, creating an elegant atmosphere.
Rather than a massive tulip display, it feels like a picturesque garden scene.
If you’re visiting the Minato Mirai area, it’s definitely worth checking out!

As of March 29, many tulips here were still in bud stage.

For reference, check last year’s Rinko Park tulips here! They were in full bloom around April 6.
The best time to see tulips is early April. After cherry blossoms, it’s tulip season! Come and experience spring in Yokohama!
(Bonus) Is There a Connection Between Yokohama and Tulips?

By the way, are tulips related to Yokohama?

Apparently not directly. Tulips came to Japan via Nagasaki during the Edo period, and later became widely cultivated in Toyama.
However, Yokohama developed as a gateway for Western culture after the port opened.
Foreign residents brought Western-style gardens and flower culture, spreading flowers like roses and tulips throughout the city.
The tulips at Yamashita Park are part of this “port × flowers” scenery unique to Yokohama. Even without a direct historical connection, the harmony feels truly special♪
